Subaru is doubling down on electrification. After launching the Solterra and teasing the rugged Trailseeker, the brand has unveiled its third electric vehicle: the 2026 Subaru Uncharted. More compact than its siblings and built on the platform of the new Toyota bZ4X (marketed as the C-HR EV in some regions), the Uncharted brings Subaru’s signature styling, AWD capability, and off-road tuning to a new segment.
And for the first time in decades, it’s available with front-wheel drive though only in limited numbers.
The Uncharted will be offered in three trims:
- Premium (FWD)
- Sport (AWD)
- GT (AWD)
Powertrain options vary by trim:
- Premium FWD: Single motor, 221 horsepower
- Sport & GT AWD: Dual-motor setup, 338 hp total
With dual motors, Subaru claims a 0–60 mph time of just 5.0 seconds making it quicker than the current WRX, despite its crossover form.

All versions use a 74.4-kWh battery pack, with estimated range:
- Over 300 miles (Premium FWD)
- 290 miles (Sport and GT)
While not class-leading, these figures are competitive in the compact EV SUV space.
The Uncharted comes standard with a Tesla-compatible NACS charging port, ensuring seamless access to the growing Tesla Supercharger network. It supports DC fast charging up to 150 kW, enabling a 10–80% charge in approximately 30 minutes practical for road trips and daily top-ups.
Despite its shared underpinnings, Subaru says the Uncharted features a unique chassis tune optimized for real-world driving especially on loose or uneven surfaces. All AWD models come with X-Mode, Subaru’s intelligent traction system that adjusts throttle, braking, and power distribution for improved grip on snow, gravel, mud, and steep inclines.

It’s proof that even in electric form, Subaru isn’t abandoning its go-anywhere DNA.
Inside, the cabin borrows heavily from the Toyota C-HR EV, featuring:
- 7-inch digital instrument cluster
- 14-inch central infotainment touchscreen
- Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto
- Dual front wireless phone chargers
Every trim is well-equipped with standard features like:
- Heated front seats
- Heated side mirrors
- Windshield de-icer
- Power tailgate
- Full suite of Subaru Safety Sense active safety tech
Upgrade to the Sport trim, and you’ll get:
- Heated steering wheel
- Surround-view camera system
The GT trim adds:
- Cooled front seats
- Heated rear outer seats
- 20-inch alloy wheels
- Harman Kardon premium audio system
At 177.6 inches long, the Uncharted is nearly 7 inches shorter than the Solterra, making it Subaru’s smallest EV to date and only slightly longer than the gasoline-powered Crosstrek.
Yet it offers more utility: 25.0 cubic feet of cargo space behind the rear seats, outperforming the Crosstrek’s 20.0 cubic feet.

However, import tariffs and supply chain factors could influence final pricing so expectations should remain flexible.
