The Velar has always been the fashion-forward member of the Range Rover family, and the new generation appears to lean into that identity even harder.

Visible design details from camouflaged prototypes include a noticeably lower roofline with a tapering rear window, suggesting the SUV is moving toward a fastback or sportback silhouette. The front end carries a closed panel logical for an EV that echoes the shape of the current grille but without any openings. Headlights appear slimmer and more swept back, giving the front a sharper, more focused expression.

Other visible cues include the signature clamshell bonnet inherited from current Land Rover models, flush deployable door handles, and large-diameter alloy wheels. Perhaps most surprisingly, the proportions of the rear doors hint that the new Velar could finally gain a third row of seats something the current two-row model has always lacked.

The EMA platform's headline technical feature is its 800-volt electrical architecture the same approach used in the Porsche Taycan and Hyundai IONIQ 6 enabling peak charging speeds of up to 350 kW. In practical terms, this means adding a significant amount of range in just a matter of minutes at compatible ultra-rapid chargers, rather than the 20–30 minutes typical of older 400V systems.

JLR has also confirmed that the EMA platform will support over-the-air (OTA) software updates, allowing the vehicle's driver assistance systems, media features, and other software-dependent functions to improve over time without requiring a trip to a dealership.
