Hyundai revealed the facelifted 2024 Sonata earlier this year, but now we have news on the model in North America. It is not confusing, there is no difference between the markets, except for one important part. Buyers in this neck of the woods can choose to drive all cars.

This is the all-wheel-drive setup installed on the 2024 Hyundai Sonata, and it finally brings some resolution to the Sonata AWD spy photos we captured a long time ago.

This is the automaker HTRAC (Hyundai TRACtion) system, like the one in the Hyundai SUV, distributing power to the front or rear as needed. Cold-weather buyers will appreciate the all-wheel drive, but those expecting a sporty Sonata N Line AWD will be disappointed. Also, the hybrid has said will not.

For now at least, all-wheel drive is available only from the naturally aspirated 2.5-liter cylinder engine. To refresh your memory, Hyundai big Sonata upgrade includes a new front fascia with slimmer headlights and more highlights between the grille and corners.

There is more symmetry at the rear with new H-shaped taillights, mounted on a revised lower fascia. Inside, you'll find an updated cockpit with a pair of 12.3-inch screens (one for the driver, one for the infotainment system) integrated behind a single curved screen. Drivers also get a head-up display, and for audiophiles, Hyundai has upgraded the 12-speaker Bose audio system. The 2024 Sonata is offered with three engine options for North America. We already mentioned the 2.5-liter four-cylinder in the standard sedan.

The 2024 Hyundai Sonata N line continues with the 2.5-liter turbocharged engine, and the hybrid carries a 2.0-liter engine with an electric motor. Hyundai's press release does not discuss changes to these engines, or include specific power levels. We can tell you that the 2023 Hyundai Sonata N Line produces 290 horsepower, while the hybrid produces an output of 192 horsepower. The standard Hyundai Sonata - currently equipped with all-wheel drive - has 191 horsepower. Likewise, the price for the new model is not yet available.

The starting price for the 2023 Hyundai Sonata SE is $26,565; The Hyundai Sonata Hybrid Blue starts at $29,565 and the 2023 N line starts at $35,940. The price including destination charges is $1,115, and it's safe to assume that 2024 will bring at least a small increase in those numbers. Expect pricing to be announced closer to the 2024 Hyundai Sonata's on-sale date, which will be later this year.
