Alfa Romeo built the last 8C in 2010 before announcing a return to the stock model launched in 2018. However, the 700-horsepower coupe did not see the light of day as parent company FCA pulled the plug less than a year ago.

A year later Fast forward to 2023, there's a new flagship sports car from the legendary Italian brand, and this time it's actually happening. Rather than being a successor to the 8C, it's a rebirth of the painfully beautiful 2025 Alfa Romeo 33 Stradale.

As with the inspiration sold in the late 1960s, when only 18 examples were made, the 2025 Alfa Romeo 33 Stradale features a mid-engine design. The trainers of Carrozzeria Touring Superleggera will handcraft the beautiful body with a retro taste. This makes it the second Alfa in recent times to feature a full body, following last year's Giulia SWB Zagato.

Today's Stradale 33 is smaller than its ancestor since Alfa Romeo plans to produce 33 cars. They were all sold during the week of the 2022 Formula 1 Italian Grand Prix at Monza on September 11, when potential buyers were invited to take a look behind closed doors. No two cars will be the same because each one will be a "unique and irreplaceable work of art" carefully crafted by a unique team.

There are endless personalization options, including a custom eight-digit owner-supplied VIN number that is also displayed on the center console. Equipped with butterfly doors, the high-end Alfa has a carbon fiber monocoque combined with an aluminum H-frame and a housing made from a combination of the two materials. Even the window frames are made of carbon fiber while the rear glass has been replaced with polycarbonate.

The interior is offered in two themes: Tributo and Alfa Corse. While the first will mimic a classic car, the second will be a sport. The cockpit-like interior features aluminum shift paddles behind the steering wheel without any controls, because Alfa wants you to focus on what's really important: driving. The cabin uses a combination of leather, carbon fiber, aluminum and Alcantara to stay true to the early 1960s.

At the heart of the new Alfa Romeo flagship is a twin-turbo V6 3.0-liter engine that produces more than 620 horsepower channeled to the rear wheels. You might be tempted to believe that the engine is Maserati Nettuno because of the same output, but we're told it's actually an evolution of the 2.9-liter twin-turbo V6 that powers the Giulia and Stelvio. Quadrifoglio model.

The ICE works with an eight-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission from ZF while the MC20 comes with an eight-speed DCT from Tremec. Although the torque is not mentioned, we remind you that this Alfa-developed six cylinder engine pumps out 443 pound-feet (600 Newton-meters) in Quadrifoglio models, Giulia GTA/GTAm and Giulia SWB Zagato. we said it before.

Alternatively, buyers can get the 2025 Alfa Romeo 33 Stradale as an all-electric car with more than 750 hp, which mirrors the power of the GranTurismo Folgore where the three motors deliver a combined 996 lb-ft. The EV model will go 280 kilometers (450 miles) on the WLTP cycle to match the GranTurismo Folgore.

However, we should point out that Alfa Romeo has not explicitly stated that the 33 Stradale uses a three-motor setup like the Maserati electric car is also powerful. Regardless of the engine that powers it, the 2025 Alfa Romeo 33 Stradale will reach 0 to 100 km/h in less than three seconds and top out at 333 km/h. It provides its stopping power through Brembo carbon-ceramic discs and an electric braking system, while the suspension consists of a double-arm setup with shock absorbers working on the front axle system. Jean-Philippe Iparato, CEO of Alfa Romeo, promises that the 33 Stradale will not be the last special car of the brand as more customized models are planned.
