The Saveiro is Volkswagen smallest pickup and it has been sold in South America since its inception in 1982. 

Its name derives from the traditional Brazilian fishing boats and for the 2024 model year the model comes with a new premium trim level. There are also other upgrades including a redesigned front end, standard equipment and a refined engine.

Starting with the exterior, the 2024 Volkswagen Saveiro is more mature with a taller bonnet, a new grille and a chrome strip that extends across the headlights. On the sides, we see more muscular wheel arches and body protection, while all models ride on 15-inch wheels.

At the rear, we see a new dark treatment for the taillights, as well as 2024 Volkswagen Saveiro lettering in the center of the taillights. Depending on the configuration level, five colors are available: Oliver Gray (different from Trendline and Extreme) and Moonstone Gray (unlimited) in addition to Ninja Black, Sirius Silver and Crystal White.

Speaking of trim levels, there are four levels for the 2024 model year. As standard, each has rear parking sensors, electronic stability control, hill assist and four disc brakes. All models feature a 1.6-liter naturally aspirated engine under the hood with a peak output of 116 horsepower and 116 pound-feet (16.1 kg/m) of torque. The four-cylinder is mated to a five-speed manual gearbox.

The 2024 model year introduces a new discount level for small trucks. The 2024 Volkswagen Saveiro comes with 15-inch wheels of the model, piano black badging on the B-pillar, decals on the hood and sides, a matte black line connecting the rear lights, and more. Inside, there are leather seats and gray accents on the armrests and doors. 

Technology-wise, the range comes standard with a touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, quad speakers, parking camera, headlights and a tire pressure monitor. An optional Technology Package adds an off-road button that activates the hill descent control system. To conclude, 2024 Volkswagen Saveiro has been selling in Brazil for 41 years and has delivered more than 1.6 million customers. The new iteration is expected to go on sale later this year.
