The popular Honda Civic is going hybrid again. Honda has confirmed that the Civic Hybrid model will join the lineup in 2024. 

Although this has been confirmed, we do not have a solid explanation but it is not true that it will be offered in sedan and sedan versions.

Honda first introduced the Civic Hybrid for the 2003 model year, and it remained a performance model option until 2015. In 2015, the 2023 Honda Civic Hybrid has a four-cylinder engine and an electric motor, producing an output of 110 horsepower. It came standard with a continuously variable transmission and got an estimated 43 mpg city.

We expect the 2023 Civic Hybrid model to fill the void of the outgoing Honda Insight. For comparison, the Insight combines an electric motor with a 1.5-litre engine to make 151bhp. Paired with the CVT, it gets an EPA-estimated 52 mpg combined. The Civic Hybrid should match or better those numbers as the new model. 

The 2023 Civic hybrid will be part of Honda push for a more electrified future. They plan to focus on expanding their hybrid lineup, focusing on their core models of the CR-V, Accord and Civic. This means that we will see new hybrid versions of each of them hit the market this year and in the near future. The new Honda CR-V hybrid was introduced for 2023, followed by a deal, and it has now been confirmed that the Civic will join the hybrid lineup in 2024.

There are no details on the arrival date or details of the 2023 Civic Hybrid, but Honda expects to rely on its hybrid market in the coming years. Although many drivers have switched to electric vehicles, Honda is still focused on developing its hybrid line to close the gap. 

We expect the 2023 Honda Civic Hybrid to fall somewhere around the price of the current Civic, so the expected MSRP for this car starts between $26,000 and $44,000 depending on trim and model.
