It’s hard to believe the GMC Hummer EV has already been around for a few years. While GMC isn’t ready to roll out a full mid-cycle refresh for the electric truck and SUV variants just yet, the 2026 model year brings some exciting updates especially under the hood.

At first glance, the changes might be easy to miss, unless you're drawn to the new Coastal Dune and Auburn Matte exterior paint options. But if you listen closely, you might hear the roar of torque as the Hummer EV 3X Pickup rockets from 0 to 60 mph in just 2.8 seconds.

That’s thanks to a significant power boost for the 2026 model the Hummer EV 3X now delivers a staggering 1,160 horsepower, an increase of 160 hp over the current version. According to a GMC spokesperson, this extra power is exclusive to the pickup and is achieved through an optional 24-module battery pack, along with software and propulsion system optimizations.

This performance leap puts the Hummer EV in supercar territory. Its sub-3-second 0–60 mph time now rivals vehicles like the Porsche 911 GT3 and Corvette Z06. In fact, with the outgoing ZR1 no longer in production, this electric beast is now the fastest-accelerating vehicle GM has ever built.

For 2026, GMC is also introducing a new Carbon Fiber Edition for both the truck and SUV. This limited-run trim features unique styling elements like black alloy wheels with all-terrain tires, carbon fiber mirror caps and skid plate inserts, and blacked-out badges. The SUV version even gets a matching black spare wheel.

The Carbon Fiber Edition is only available in the exclusive Magnus Gray Matte finish, and while GMC hasn’t revealed exact production numbers, it’s confirmed to be a limited-production model.

GMC is also rolling out an updated version of the Hummer’s CrabWalk feature, dubbed King Crab. This new rear-wheel steering mode allows the rear wheels to turn at a faster angle, significantly improving off-road maneuverability in tight terrain.

King Crab will be available on all 2026 Hummer EV models, and an over-the-air update later this year will bring the feature to 2022–2025 models as well.

GMC has also fine-tuned the suspension setup for a smoother, more refined ride. In addition, the Hummer EV now supports bidirectional charging, allowing owners to power other EVs or even their homes assuming they have the proper equipment.

Inside, the cabin remains largely unchanged, featuring the 13.4-inch infotainment screen and a full suite of tech features, including Google Built-In for seamless connectivity.

“The refreshed Hummer EV enhances an already amazing vehicle with new software innovations and forward-thinking design,” said Al Oppenheiser, Chief Engineer for the GMC Hummer EV. “From the start, we aimed to provide Hummer EV owners with over-the-air software updates. All 2026 Hummer EV owners will have access to our latest software going forward, allowing new features to be introduced throughout the vehicle's lifecycle.”

Official pricing for the 2026 model year will be announced later this year, ahead of the vehicle’s arrival at dealerships.
