The 2024 Toyota Land Cruiser 250 has arrived in Europe where it will be offered with a different engine. 

While the North American and Chinese versions get a 2.4-liter turbocharged gasoline engine with an electric motor for a combined output of 326 hp and 465 lb-ft (630 Nm), the models in Western Europe (and Australia) have the engine diesel. The 2.8-liter unit develops 201 horsepower and 369 lb-ft (500 Nm) transmitted by a new eight-speed automatic transmission.

Keeping the "Prado" name in some markets, the new petrol Land Cruiser will be able to tow 3,500 kilograms (7,716 pounds). 'The oil burner' will be the only engine available at launch in Western Europe, but Toyota says that a 48V mild-hybrid powertrain will follow in early 2025. Meanwhile, the LC diesel engine is expected going on sale in October from this year. which has a first print run of 3,000. As in the US version, the outgoing model will be sold with round and rectangular headlights similar to the previous LC.

Toyota is keen to point out that this is the first Land Cruiser with an electric motor and the first model from the company to offer front anti-roll bars. This is officially known as Stabilizer with Disconnect Mechanism (SDM) and comes with a dash switch that switches to change the position of the anti-roll bar. Technology should pay off in all situations by making the SUV capable of off-roading, comfortable and easy to maneuver on the road.

Depending on the region, the Land Cruiser "250" will be available with other powertrains such as hybrid, mild hybrid and diesel. In Eastern and Western Europe and the Middle East, Toyota will offer a 2.4 liter turbocharged petrol engine producing 278 hp and 430 Nm (316 lb-ft). In addition, Eastern Europe and Japan will also get a 2.7 liter petrol engine producing 161 hp and 246 Nm (181 lb-ft).
