Electrification is inevitable even for Lamborghini. But while every new road-going model from Sant’Agata now wears hybrid badges, the brand hasn’t forgotten its raw, analog roots. In the world of motorsport, where emotion meets edge, electric assistance stays in the garage.
Enter the Temerario Super Trofeo: the latest evolution of Lamborghini one-make racing series and a pure internal combustion, rear-wheel-drive missile that could preview a future street-legal special.
Unlike the plug-in-hybrid road car, this track-only beast ditches electrification entirely not as a step back, but as a leap forward in purity.
The heart of the Super Trofeo?
A twin-turbocharged V8 engine a radical departure from the naturally aspirated V10s of Gallardo and Huracán Super Trofeo legends.
In race tune, it produces 641 horsepower yes, 148 hp less than the street-legal Temerario gas engine but don’t let that fool you.
This isn’t about peak numbers. It’s about reliability, response, and race-day balance under grueling conditions.
Power flows exclusively to the rear wheels via a six-speed sequential gearbox, replacing the dual-clutch eight-speed auto of the road car. The transmission unit is shared with the Temerario GT3, developed by Hoer Engineering, ensuring durability and lightning-fast shifts.
No front electric motors. No hybrid complexity. Just throttle, tires, and talent.
Visually, the Super Trofeo is unmistakable:
- Far more aggressive body kit than the road car
- Functional cooling ducts, flared fenders, and wide air intakes
- Crowned by a massive fixed rear wing for maximum downforce
It’s not just loud. It’s built to dominate.

Underneath, upgrades are serious:
- KW Motorsport suspension with motorsport-grade adjustability
- BMC high-flow air filters
- Capristo performance exhaust system delivering a deeper, more aggressive howl
- 12-point adjustable traction control for fine-tuned corner exit grip
Weight remains under wraps but given the GT3 sibling weighs 2,866 lbs (1,300 kg) dry, expect the Super Trofeo to be similarly svelte.
Compare that to the road-going Temerario, which tips the scales at ~3,726 lbs (1,690 kg) over 860 lbs heavier due to:
- Hybrid hardware
- All-wheel drive
- Sound insulation
- Comfort systems
Strip it all away, and what’s left?
Pure driving essence.
While official cabin images haven’t been released, Lamborghini confirms:
- Full FIA-compliant roll cage integrated into the chassis
- Dashboard wrapped in Dinamica Infinity a groundbreaking material made from 100% PES mono-component non-woven polyester suede
- Claimed as the first automotive application of this sustainable fabric, aligning performance with environmental responsibility without sacrificing luxury or durability
It’s proof that cutting-edge sustainability doesn’t mean compromise even in a fire-breathing race car.

Though designed for the Lamborghini Super Trofeo series a single-make championship launched in 2009 the Super Trofeo may have a greater purpose.
Its RWD layout, stripped-back design, and ICE-only drivetrain feel like a direct nod to past icons like the Huracán STO a street-legal supercar born from track DNA.
And CEO Rouven Mohr hasn’t hidden his interest. He’s already hinted at a future RWD, license-plate-equipped variant one that channels the spirit of the Super Trofeo.
Could a Temerario STO be coming?
Given Lamborghini history, it’s almost certain.
Even rumors suggest an off-road-inspired Sterrato-style version might follow raising the bar for high-riding exotics.
But first: the race car takes center stage.
The Temerario Super Trofeo won’t hit the track until the 2027 season giving teams time to prepare and fans time to dream.
