The 2024 Honda Passport will be a limited-edition vehicle with minor color and component changes. The current passport expires in 2019 and expires in 2022. The next-gen Passport may arrive as soon as next year, and it will include a hybrid model.

The 2024 Honda Passport is a mid-sized family crossover with seating for five in generous cargo space. Buyers get 42.1 cubic feet of space behind the seats and 77.7 cubic feet with them folded. Action is on the muscular side of this class. The body features fender flares, black lower fenders, aggressive bumpers and an integrated tail spoiler.

The 2024 Honda Passport is easily passable for a genuine expatriate. Ambience inside works in the game if a bit dated. There's plenty of room in the back for three, a benefit of having two rows in a crossover this size. An 8-inch screen remains standard, along with a digital instrument cluster, wireless phone charging and (hopefully) genuine leather seats.

We expect Honda to offer the Passport again in three trim levels: EX-L, TrailSport and Elite. The TrailSport adds a touch of forgiveness, although its effect is mostly cosmetic. The Elite comes with special features such as air-conditioned seats, hands-free steering wheel, 10-speaker audio system and keyless entry.

All cars will be standard on the Passport, with a nine-speed automatic transmission and a 3.5-liter V6 engine. The engine delivers 280 horsepower and 262 lb-ft of torque, enough for the Passport to tow up to 5,000 pounds. EPA ratings are 19 miles per gallon city, 24 mpg highway and 21 combined. The Passport has higher ground clearance and a shorter wheelbase than most competitors, making it capable enough for muddy roads and grassy areas. 

The 2024 Honda Passport should continue with a robust list of standard driver assistance technologies. All models get lane-keeping assist, adaptive cruise control, emergency braking, parking sensors, automatic high beam, blind spot monitoring and a panoramic view camera. Automatic cleaning is only for the Elite.

The 2024 Honda Passport usually hits dealers in the fall. We expect prices to start around $42,500 including destination and climb to around $48,000 for the top-spec Elite model. The 2024 Honda Passport competes with mid-size crossovers such as the Hyundai Santa Fe, Ford Edge, Buick Envision and Toyota Venza.
