Ford isn’t just building fast Mustangs anymore. It’s building weapons. Enter the Mustang Dark Horse SC a new, ultra-focused evolution of the most hardcore street-legal Mustang since the Shelby GT500.

With a supercharged 5.2L V8, seven-speed dual-clutch transmission, and chassis tech pulled straight from the 815-hp GTD, this is more than a special edition.

This is Ford’s declaration of war on Europe’s elite and according to Ryan Shaughnessy, Mustang Brand Manager, they didn’t build it to compete.

We designed it to beat them.

Official horsepower and torque figures?

Still under wraps. But the clues are loud and clear.

The Dark Horse SC sits:

  • Above the 500-hp base Dark Horse
  • Below the 815-hp GTD
  • And shares its core DNA with the legendary 760-hp Shelby GT500

So expect something in the high 700s possibly touching 800 hp.

All that fury routes through a twin-disc clutch, seven-speed DCT one of the few non-manual transmissions ever blessed by a true performance Mustang and yes it’s built for track speed, not show.

Ford didn’t just bolt on parts. It re-engineered the entire foundation.

Standard hardware includes:

  • MagneRide dampers with latest-gen software tuning
  • Firmer springs and stabilizer bars
  • Updated front knuckles and control arms
  • Lightweight magnesium strut tower brace (replaces steel)

This isn’t a mild upgrade. It’s a surgical enhancement sharpening turn-in, reducing body roll, and increasing high-speed stability and when you’re chasing Porsches at 150 mph, every millisecond counts.

To handle repeated hot laps, Ford went full motorsport.

The Dark Horse SC gets:

  • Six-piston front / four-piston rear Brembo calipers
  • Standard Pirelli P Zero R tires on 20-inch forged aluminum wheels

But if you want even more?

Opt for the Track Package where things get serious.

Then you get:

  • Carbon-ceramic brakes from the GTD:
    • 16.5-inch front rotors
    • 14.5-inch rear rotors
  • Custom-developed Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 R tires
  • 20-inch carbon-fiber wheels lighter, stiffer, faster

These aren’t just for looks. They’re for surviving hours on the Nürburgring without fade.

Ford reshaped the airflow from nose to tail.

  • Front End Redesign
    • Center inlet 65% larger than base Dark Horse
    • Side inlets doubled in size for improved brake and radiator cooling
    • New front fascia optimized for thermal management
  • Hood That Generates Real Downforce
    • Removes rain tray
    • Opens up five times more vent area
    • Generates 2.5x more downforce than standard Dark Horse hood
  • Rear Aero System
    • New diffuser
    • Optional ducktail decklid + carbon fiber wing
    • Together, they produce 620 pounds of rear downforce at 180 mph

That’s more grip than some supercars and it keeps the rear planted during high-speed corner exits.

For drivers who live at track days, the Track Package is essential.

It adds:

  • Track-specific MagneRide calibration
  • Variable traction control system from the GTD five modes, including full ESC disable
  • Recaro leather/Dinamica sport seats as standard (optional on base SC)
  • Carbon-fiber wheels and Cup 2 Rs

And for those who want to stand out?

There’s also the Teal Accent Package splashing teal paint across:

  • Brake calipers
  • Seat belts
  • Badging

Because when you're running sub-8-minute laps, you should look good doing it.

Inside, the cockpit blends aggression with refinement.

Features include:

  • GTD-inspired flat-bottom steering wheel wrapped in leather
  • Alcantara trim on dash, doors, and shift boot
  • Carbon-fiber accents throughout
  • Available Recaro seats with aggressive bolsters

It feels like a race car but one that won’t destroy your back on the drive home.

For 2026, Ford will release a limited-run Track Pack Special Edition combining the best of both worlds:

  • Includes Track and Carbon Exterior Packages
  • Black-painted roof
  • Race Red Brembo calipers
  • Offered only in Shadow Black or Oxford White
  • Recaro seats feature Solar Red contrast stitching

Low production numbers expected so act fast.
