Ford is doubling down on performance. After launching the fire-breathing Dark Horse and track-focused GTD, the Blue Oval is now bringing serious driving thrills to the budget-minded enthusiast.
Introducing the 2026 Mustang EcoBoost RTR Package a factory-backed performance upgrade that transforms the turbocharged four-cylinder Mustang into a capable, confidence-inspiring drift machine without breaking the bank.
It’s not just cosmetic. This is a mechanically enhanced EcoBoost built for fun, finesse, and sideways action.
Ford didn’t cut corners. The RTR package borrows key components from its high-performance siblings:
- Rear subframe from the Mustang Dark Horse for improved rigidity
- Front and rear sway bars lifted directly from the Dark Horse setup
- Brembo brakes from the GT Performance Package:
- Six-piston front calipers
- Four-piston rears
The result? Sharper turn-in, reduced body roll, and far better stability during aggressive driving especially when you’re hanging it out.
Additional suspension upgrades include:
- Optimized steering gear with increased travel for more precise control
- Unique tuning for stability control and MagneRide dampers (where equipped), specifically calibrated for better performance while drifting
- Electronic Drift Brake standard giving drivers an extra tool to rotate the car mid-corner
It’s the most driver-focused EcoBoost Mustang ever built.

Under the hood, the 2.3L EcoBoost engine remains at 315 horsepower and 350 lb-ft of torque no mechanical upgrades here.
But Ford adds one major digital enhancement:
RTR Anti-Lag System derived from technology used in Ford’s GT race program
This software-based system keeps the turbo spooled during gear changes and lift-off, reducing lag and delivering more immediate throttle response crucial when you're powering out of a drift or chasing lap times.
It’s proof that performance isn’t just about horsepower it’s about how you use it.
Visually, the RTR package gives the EcoBoost a meaner, more muscular presence:
- RTR grille and illuminated "nostrils" (light-up air intakes)
- GT-inspired front fascia
- GT Performance Pack rear spoiler
- RTR-specific badging
- Tarnished Dark Anodized pony badges and mirror caps
- Matching dark-anodized graphics along the hood and sides
For those who want to stand out even more, Ford offers the Hyper Lime Exterior Package, which swaps black accents for vibrant Hyper Lime, including:
- Hyper Lime-painted Brembo brake calipers
- Color-matched graphic highlights
It’s bold, brash, and unmistakably RTR.
Inside, the Hyper Lime theme continues:
- Contrast stitching on the dash, center console, door pockets, and Electronic Drift Brake handle
- RTR-specific startup animations on the digital instrument cluster
- Custom welcome screen when the doors open
While standard upholstery is carried over, these touches ensure you never forget what you’re driving.
