2024 Lexus RX 450h+ Debuts With 304 HP

The fifth-generation Lexus RX debuted in May last year when the Japanese automaker released details on three of the SUV's four powertrains. For the 2024 model year, the luxury model finally got a hybrid, which became the Lexus RX second most powerful engine option. 

The 2024 Lexus RX 450h+ shares its PHEV base with the Lexus NX plug-in hybrid, meaning there's a 2.5-liter inline-petrol engine under the hood powered by two electric motors and a lithium-ion battery. 

This combination produces a maximum output of 304 horsepower, providing the luxury SUV from 0 to 60 kilometers per hour in around 6.2 seconds. Top speed is electronically regulated at 124 mph, while one battery charge is enough for 35 kilometers of electric range.

Lexus says the hybrid SUV comes standard with a Level 1 charging cable for 120-volt outlets. Using a maximum current charger of 240 volts and "under good conditions", the 2024 Lexus RX 450h + can be fully charged in about two and a half hours with a 6.6 kilowatt charger on board. By the way, the power of the plug-in hybrid powertrain is distributed to all four wheels. 

The 2024 Lexus RX 450h + will be available in eight exterior colors (Eminent White Pearl, Cloudburst Grey, Iridium, Caviar, Matador Red Mica, Copper Crest, Nori Green Pearl and Nightfall Mica) and standard 21-inch 20-spoke wheels. Standard equipment also includes interior items such as four heated and ventilated seats, mood lighting, steering wheel, panoramic glass roof and a premium 21-speaker Mark Levinson audio system.

All of these standard features have their costs, however. Going on sale in the US later this year, the 2024 Lexus RX 450h+ starts at $70,080 (including destination charge), making it more expensive than the 2023 Lexus RX 350h luxury with a starting price of $ 58,750.
