Genesis updated the Hyundai Genesis G70 in South Korea where it also sells more practical cars

Although the initial impression that the mid-size luxury car has entered the new model year has almost changed, there are a few changes. From the outside, the badge looks fine due to the engraving process using the Guilloché decorative technique. There are Kawah Blue and Bartna Gray colors and new 18-inch and 19-inch wheels.

Moving inside, the center console has been updated along with changes to the HVAC panel. There are a few common controls in this area as their functions are individually mapped to the touch screen. Even the standard Hyundai Genesis G70 now has ventilated front seats, heated rear seats and a frameless rear-view mirror. Additional two tone options include Forest Blue/Vanilla Beige, Obsidian Black/Vanilla Beige, and Obsidian Black/Mist Gray.

The biggest change took place under the hood where the 2.0 liter turbocharged petrol engine is no longer available. Going forward, the Hyundai Genesis G70 will be sold in its domestic market with a larger 2.5-litre engine. It develops 300 horsepower, which is 48 more horsepower than the entry-level model currently sold in the United States. Torque marks at 311 lb-ft (422 Newton-meters) while the US-spec Hyundai Genesis G70 is now set for 260 lb-ft (352 Nm)

It should be noted that for the model year of 2022, the Kia Stinger that will be discontinued soon received a 2.5 liter engine with the same power. The crossover is offered with the Hyundai Genesis G70, GV70 and the largest engine in the United States. It is likely only a matter of time before the sedan is also switched to a more powerful unit. Don't be surprised if it arrives for 2024MY.

Back in Korea, the Hyundai Genesis G70 base not only gets more power, but also comes standard with Brembo brakes. For an additional cost, customers can upgrade to the stock 3.3-liter V6. However, the most powerful engine is only available in the sedan as the long version comes with four cylinders.

The Hyundai Genesis G70 goes on sale today in Korea where it retails from 43.15 million won ($32,550) for the four-cylinder sedan and 45.11 million won ($34,000) for the station wagon. A V6-powered sedan will set you back at least 48.05 million won ($36,200).
