When the Kia Telluride launched in 2020, it didn’t just enter the three-row SUV segment it dominated it. Five years later, it remains one of Kia’s best-selling vehicles and a favorite among families, road-trippers, and design lovers alike.

Now, for 2027, Kia isn’t just updating the Telluride it’s reinventing it. Unveiled at the Los Angeles Auto Show, the new model arrives with a ruggedly chiseled design, a luxurious dual-screen interior, and two brand-new powertrains including a fuel-sipping hybrid. We even got an early look at the production model during a private preview in LA (watch our full walkaround above). This isn’t evolution. It’s transformation.

Gone is the soft-edged boxiness of the first generation. The 2027 Telluride now wears a sharper, more aggressive face, inspired by off-road concepts and premium SUVs like the latest Range Rover.

Key changes:

  • Taller, wider grille that flows into the headlights
  • Trim-specific finishes: gloss-black vertical slats (SXP), mesh pattern extending to bumper base (XRT)
  • Triangular body creases along fenders for a more sculpted profile
  • Broader hood, sleeker roofline, and a floating roof effect that carries into the trunk lid
  • Increased cladding around wheel arches for added toughness

At the corners:

  • New vertical LED headlights and taillights
  • Fresh eight-spoke alloy wheels with cross detailing (SXP & X-Pro trims)
  • Bright orange front recovery hooks on the X-Pro a bold nod to its trail-ready ambitions.

Kia stretched the wheelbase by 2.7 inches to 116.9 inches, increasing overall length to 199.2 inches up 2.3 inches from before. More size means more space. And inside, that promise is fully realized.

Step inside, and the leap forward is undeniable.

The cabin has been completely reimagined with:

  • A sweeping dual 12.3-inch display setup: digital instrument cluster + central infotainment
  • Both screens run wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto as standard
  • Physical climate controls preserved no touch-only nonsense here

Luxury cues abound:

  • Real wood and metal trim across dashboard, doors, and console
  • Two-tone leather seats (on upper trims) with breathable mesh headrests
  • New color options: Deep Navy, Blackberry, accented by Tuscan Umber and Sand Beige

It feels upscale without trying too hard refined, not flashy.

Even third-row access improves thanks to sliding second-row seats and a redesigned center console layout.

Say goodbye to the V-6.

For 2027, Kia replaces the outgoing 3.8L V6 (291 hp, 262 lb-ft) with two modern, efficient four-cylinder options:

  • Standard Engine: 2.5L Turbo I4 – 274 HP / 311 LB-FT
    • Front-wheel drive standard
    • Eight-speed automatic transmission
    • Available AWD, now standard on X-Pro trim
    • Adds an electronic limited-slip differential for improved traction

Despite slightly less horsepower than the old V6, torque jumps significantly delivering stronger low-end pull perfect for towing or city driving.

  • New Hybrid: 2.5L Turbo + Electric Motors – 329 HP / 339 LB-FT
    • Combined output soars to 329 horsepower and 339 lb-ft
    • Powered by a 1.65-kWh lithium-ion battery
    • EPA-estimated 35 MPG combined
    • Total driving range: up to 600 miles on a single tank
    • Uses a six-speed automatic transmission tuned for smooth electric-to-gas transitions

This is no mild hybrid. It’s a true performance hybrid offering more power, better efficiency, and real-world range. No plug-in option yet but this setup could be a stepping stone.

Thanks to the longer wheelbase, cargo capacity expands:

  • 22.3 cu ft behind third row
  • 46.3 cu ft with third row folded
  • 86.9 cu ft behind first row

That’s class-competitive and ideal for gear-heavy adventures.

Official pricing hasn’t been announced but based on current figures, expect a slight increase. The 2026 Telluride starts at $37,885 (LX) and tops out at $55,180 (SX Prestige X-Pro). With the 2027 model adding new tech, larger dimensions, and advanced powertrains, Kia is expected to price the base model at just under $40,000. Still excellent value in a segment where rivals charge more for less.
