Finally, the wait is over! After months of wild speculation and an avalanche of internet renders, BMW has finally revealed the M5 Touring. And guess what? For the third time ever, the M5 wagon is coming to the U.S.!

I got a sneak peek of this beauty behind closed doors at the M5 sedan’s premiere over two months ago. BMW practically treated it like a state secret, making us leave our phones behind and dragging us into a dimly lit room as if we were entering a CIA black site. All that drama to reveal the M5 Touring. Ever since, I've been itching for the official debut.

So, what can I say beyond what the photos will show? In person, the M5 Touring is stunning. Don’t be fooled by the press images that feature a matte-black version on a dark background. In real life, it’s a different beast. There's this sleek body line running the length of the car, catching the light perfectly as it tapers into the wagon’s elegant roofline. A spoiler tops it off just right, and the cargo hold? Impeccably designed.

After admiring its profile, I rushed to the front to make sure BMW hadn’t slapped the notorious ‘Angry Beaver’ grille on it. Thankfully, like the M5 sedan, it retains its design sensibility.

With the rear seats down, the M5 Touring is way more practical than its sedan sibling. My benchmark for cargo space is whether or not it can fit two road bikes with the front wheels off, and this wagon passes with flying colors. BMW estimates 57.6 cubic feet of cargo space around 10 more than a Toyota 4Runner with its seats up. In simpler terms, it'll comfortably handle a family road trip, luggage and all.

Back to the aesthetics every M5 Touring should come in Isle of Man Green metallic. It’s a BMW ‘M variant’ exclusive color and looked absolutely stunning in that secret photo room. And yes, the M badges are everywhere, but with the right paint color, this BMW is a head-turner.

Mechanically, it’s identical to the M5 sedan same M Hybrid drive system cranking out 717 horsepower and 738 lb-ft of torque (with 577 hp from the twin-turbo V8, and the rest from the electric motor). It’ll do 0 to 60 in 3.5 seconds, with a 25-mile pure electric range. Pricing? $121,500 plus $1,175 for destination. It drops worldwide in the fourth quarter of this year.

Sure, it weighs a hefty 5,530 pounds about the same as the sedan. But hey, we forgive the wagon for that. We expect a bit more comfort, and it delivers. After testing the M5 sedan on track, I can confirm the Touring feels lighter on its feet than the stats suggest. Yes, it’s heavy, but it’s also powerful, composed, and surprisingly agile.
