The Most Expensive New Ferraris in the World: From $700K to Nearly $5 Million |
Ozoneloverz.com - Classic and pure Ferrari can easily sell for tens of millions of U.S. dollars equivalent to hundreds of billions. Many collectors dream of owning the world’s most coveted car, even if it’s an older model with minimal modern comfort and luxury.
Yet, while classic Ferrari remain highly desirable, the legendary Italian marque continues to produce breathtaking modern machines packed with every convenience expected in today’s high-performance world. Of course, the price tags on these modern masterpieces are just as extraordinary. Based on the Dupont Registry blog, here’s a list of the most expensive new Ferrari models ever made.
1. LaFerrari Aperta
This is the most expensive Ferrari ever produced. Sitting at the intersection of cutting-edge technology and timeless design, the LaFerrari Aperta is the convertible version of Ferrari’s hybrid hypercar.
Removing the roof from a conventional car often compromises rigidity, but the LaFerrari’s chassis is already exceptionally strong.
The main challenge was cooling. Instead of heat extractors in the hood, two smaller radiators were used to reduce turbulence inside the cockpit.
The Aperta features faster computer processing, engine tuning, suspension, and vehicle dynamics programming than even the coupe version. Alongside a removable carbon-fiber roof, a fabric cover is also available for use in rainy conditions.
2. Ferrari FXX-K Evo
As the flagship of Ferrari’s XX racing program, the FXX-K Evo is the latest and greatest track-only machine.
Based on the already powerful LaFerrari, its engine and hybrid system are tuned for unlimited performance, delivering a staggering 1,036 horsepower and 664 lb-ft of torque.
The Evo package includes a new aerodynamic kit offered to just 40 owners.
Ferrari modifies the body to generate 23% more downforce over 75% more than the road-legal LaFerrari. The FXX-K Evo is also 198 lbs (90 kg) lighter, making it the most powerful Ferrari ever sold.
3. Ferrari Enzo
If you’ve ever dreamed of a Formula 1 car that’s street-legal, the Ferrari Enzo is it.
Ferrari’s racing team found a way to bring their ultimate track machine to the road, while also honoring the brand’s founder, Enzo Ferrari.
Built around a carbon-fiber monocoque, the Enzo features inboard suspension and a brand-new V12 engine. The 6.0-liter engine includes variable valve timing, producing 651 horsepower and 485 lb-ft of torque.
It also incorporates race-banned technologies like active aerodynamics, adjustable suspension, and stability control. Only 400 units were ever made, with the final car famously gifted to the Pope.
4. Ferrari 288 GTO
The car that started it all. When Enzo Ferrari saw other automakers gaining global fame, he tasked his team with building a Group B rally car for the World Rally Championship.
With strict regulations on engines and suspension, turbochargers were used to create Ferrari’s first true supercar. From a distance, it resembles the 308 GTB, but nearly every dimension is exaggerated.
Weighing just 2,555 lbs (1,158 kg), the 288 GTO produces 396 horsepower and 366 lb-ft of torque.
It can reach 125 mph (201 km/h) in just 15 seconds, and remains one of the fastest Ferraris of the 20th century. Only 272 units were built, setting a precedent that all future Ferraris would follow.
5. Ferrari F40
Perhaps the most iconic Ferrari ever made, the F40 was the final masterpiece personally approved by Enzo Ferrari. Built to dominate tracks worldwide, the F40 sent a clear message: Ferrari’s road-legal cars were also the most track-experienced.
By adding twin turbochargers to its 2.9-liter V8, the F40 produced 471 horsepower and 426 lb-ft of torque.
Thanks to its composite construction and ultra-lightweight design, the F40’s performance and that of its race variants remains impressive even four decades later.
6. Ferrari 599 GTO
It’s common for Ferrari to release a road-legal version of its race cars. But when the 599XX proved to be the fastest track car Ferrari had ever tested, the brand combined its best elements into the Ferrari 599 GTO.
Reviving the legendary Gran Turismo Omologato (GTO) name, this model pays faithful homage to the homologation racers of the past.
Upgrades to the intake, internals, and exhaust system allow it to unleash 661 horsepower and 457 lb-ft of torque.
Luxuries like a radio and climate control were stripped out, and floor mats replaced with aluminum plates. The 458 Speciale A is exceptionally rare, with only 499 units built 49 of which feature right-hand drive.
7. Ferrari 488 Pista Piloti
To celebrate its back-to-back Constructors’ and Drivers’ Championships in 2017, Ferrari honored its racing legacy by creating the Ferrari 488 Pista Piloti a tribute to its champion drivers ("piloti").
This was the first special model developed by Ferrari’s Tailor Made program, with each car uniquely assigned to a specific Ferrari driver.
The 488 Pista Piloti combines the best features of the race-proven Ferrari 488 GTE, enhanced with functional aerodynamics and adorned with Italian flag livery making it a true collector’s gem.
